Intuition Can Make a Life and Save a Life

I write about the role of intuition in Born to Receive, the book I am currently editing. Yesterday, I took an all day self-defense course as part of my research for a new book I am writing.

The instructor, Ray, spent a long time talking about intuition. He said, “It’s the key to your safety.” I wonder why so few of us have developed this 6th sense. Intuition helps us make good decisions.

It can make a life and save a life.

Receive What People and the World Have to Give

When you receive what people and the world have to give,
you open up pathways you couldn’t see before,
stimulate your imagination in ways that could not happen before,
and have energy that was not previously available to you.

Want Ask Receive

I am turning in the manuscript for my new book, Born to Receive, to my publisher at the end of this month. Finally! This morning I am thinking about the relationship between wanting, asking, and receiving.

Want. Ask. Receive.

1. Want: Be receptive to your inner life, to your feelings. There is nothing wrong with wanting something for yourself, whether it’s a moment of quiet, an extra hour of sleep, or appreciation from the people to whom you give.

2. Ask: Once you know what you want, you must ask for it. People are not mind-readers! Sometimes the answer will be no. But many times the answer will be yes. The point of asking is not to control the outcome. The point is to get used to including you and your desires in your relationships.

3. Receive: Express your appreciation when people give something to you, whether it is a compliment, a gift, or encouragement. Gratitude is one of the ways you give back to the person who has given to you.

New Year's Resolution

May my feet rest firmly on the ground
May my head touch the sky
May I see clearly
May I have the capacity to listen
May I be free to touch
May my words be true
May my heart and mind be open
May my hands be empty to fill the need
May my arms be open to others
May my gifts be revealed to me
So that I may return that which has been given.

Stillness

Learning how to be still, to really be still and let life happen -
that stillness becomes a radiance.

Be Willing to Wait and Receive

There are occasions when you can hear the mysterious language of the Earth,
in water, or coming through the trees,
emanating from the mosses, seeping through the undercurrents of the soil;
but you have to be willing to wait and receive.
John Hay

The Art of Receiving Stillness

Wherever you go in the midst of movement and activity,
carry your stillness within you.
Then the chaotic movement around you
will never overshadow your access
to the reservoir of creativity, the field of pure potentiality. ~Deepak Chopra

Appreciation and The Art of Receiving

When is the last time you looked around at your surroundings and felt appreciative?

Your five senses are receptors. Tuning into what you see, hear, taste, touch and smell brings you into the present moment. You don't have to be looking at the red rocks of Sedona to feel in awe. You can have this experience where ever you are. Keep your eyes and other senses wide open today and find something to be absolutely amazed about.

Embrace What You Discover

Whether you look within or without or up or down,
embrace what you discover.
Every part of your world and every part of you
needs your love and acceptance.

We need silence ...

See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence.... We need silence to be able to touch souls.
~Mother Teresa

The moment one gives close attention to anything

The moment one gives close attention to anything,
even a blade of grass,
it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably
magnificent world in itself.

Wild Geese

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty

To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty, and in the same field, it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Go to your fields and your gardens

Go to your fields and your gardens, and you shall learn that it is the pleasure of the bee to gather honey of the flower,
But it is also the pleasure of the flower to yield its honey to the bee.
For to the bee a flower is a fountain of life,
And to the flower a bee is a messenger of love,
And to both, bee and flower, the giving and the receiving of pleasure is a need and an ecstasy.

Kahlil Gibran

Find your confidence in your insecurity

One of my major teachers gave me the instruction, he said he wanted me for a year to have [as] my main practice to always go into my insecurity. And he said, I want you to find your confidence in your insecurity, not by trying to get rid of your insecurity.
